Indi

You can view Billy’s film Indi at his solo exhibition [TRAVELLER, YOUR FOOTPRINTS] which is being held at the NAE, Nottingham. The exhibition is a series of works, which also includes The Exiles (2019 – present) photo series. More information can be found here.

An artist film based on a novella I penned in 2017 inspired by the story of the first great hope of a professional British Asian footballer. After a long development period alongside Flamin’, my boldest artist film to date emerged, as we enter he inner worlds of mother and son’s relationship, both in the last stretches of life - for Indi, it’s metaphoric, the death of a dream, and for his Mother, it’s actual as she’s summoned into the afterlife by Sadar, a stalker of souls on Black Country canals.

In the work we experience Indi’s loving relationship with his seamstress Mum; domestic scenes and rich VFX scenes; we witness an inbetween world of imagination, where people wait to be taken by the Sardar, to journey into the next life; and much more.
